Grant, Nebraska Housing Rental Information

The six affordable housing units managed by SWNCBC in Grant are currently full. However, we encourage those who are interested to apply, with the applications being kept on file when we do get an opening. More information can be found in the link below. Please call SWNCBC for an application.

We invite you to fill out the attached application as completely as possible, and return it to the contact information below. If you have questions please contact us. The unites are rented on a first-come first-served basis. Therefore the date that the application has been turned in - in it's completed, verified and qualified form - that will be the date that secures its place on the waiting list. The applicant will then be eligible to move into the next available unit.

Grant Housing I Questions and Answers

  1. What is the rent?
    Rent is currently $325.oo per month for a three bedroom, full basement, single car garage, duplex unit.
  2. What will utilities cost?
    This will vary with each family. These are Energy Efficient Units and current residents tell us they have been satisfied with their energy bills.
  3. Who takes care of the yards?
    Grant Housing I will provide mowing and all other normal yard care including underground sprinklers. Snow removal is provided.
  4. How do I get qualified?
    Guidelines for occupancy are determined by the size of the family, gross income of the family, and ability to pay the rent. For current income limits please contact the number listed above.
  5. If I receive more income, do I have to move?
    Not as long as you remain in the income limits for the first year. You are required to provide income information on an annual basis, but after one year, your income could double and you would not have to move.
  6. Is this considered "low rent housing?"
    No. Low rent housing determines the amount of your rent based on net income. Affordable Housing rent, while tied to income, allows no credit for debt payments and is based on gross income.
  7. I would like to rent a duplex, but do not feel I can afford the rent. Is there rental assistance available?
    Yes. Qualified applicants, may apply for "Section 8" rental assistance through West Central Nebraska Development Corporation in Ogallala. The duplex units have been approved for this program.
  8. I have someone living with me, not a member of the family. does their income have to be included?
    Yes. Income of everyone living in the duplex has to be taken into consideration. If you have a teenager working outside of the one, their income also has to be included if it is reported income.
  9. Where may I get an application?
